BLS Instructor Course

The BLS Instructor Course is designed to prepare instructor candidates to teach AHA Instructor-led and blended learning courses. This course educates instructor candidates on how to adequately use AHA Instructor teaching materials, ensure that students meet learning objectives, offer student coaching skills, provide an objective skills performance evaluation, and follow AHA Instructor and course policies. The course covers core content and discipline-specific content required to teach AHA courses. 

BLS Instructor course covers planning and preparation for courses, instructing courses, conducting written exams and skills testing and keeping your BLS Instructor status current. It includes approximately 30 minutes of general information about instructing AHA courses, followed by course-specific information and hands on skills. 

With this course you will receive an instructor tool kit which contains: 

  • Instructor Manual 
  • Provider Manual
  • DVD which includes BLS Course, Update Course and Heartcode BLS 

Prior to taking this course the following must be met: 

  1. You must have a current AHA BLS Provider Card.
  2. Purchase and complete the on- line AHA BLS Instructor Essentials Course.   BLS Instructor Essentials Online | AHA (heart.org)
  3. Download and review the BLS Instructor workbook which is included in this Essentials Course.
  4. Email a copy of your BLS Instructor Essentials Certificate of Completion to registration@sremsc.org. 

Upon successful completion of the instructor course the following must be met: 

  1. You must be monitored in your teaching by a Training Center Faculty Member. Monitoring must be completed within 6 months from the original date of the instructor class. If not completed within a six-month time frame you must start the entire process over.
  2. The Training Faculty Member must submit your completed monitoring packet to registration@sremsc.org.

Once all steps listed above have been completed you will be issued an BLS Instructor Card, valid for two years. 

 

Payment Information 

Payment in full is required at the time of initial registration to reserve a place in the class. 

 

Cancellation and Refund Information 

Cancellations must be requested by the student and submitted in writing. 

If you are more than 10 minutes late without notification, you will need to reschedule.

There is a 10% fee charged on all class cancellations. 

There is no refund for cancellations less than 10 days prior to the class start date. 

There is no refund for opened course materials.  There is a 10% restocking fee on returned books.  Any unopened materials must be returned within 7 business days of cancellation to be eligible for a refund.

If Southern Region cancels the class a full refund will be issued (less any applicable course materials). 

There are no fees incurred if the class is rescheduled for another date.


Terms and Conditions:

Southern Region EMS Council reserves the right to cancel a class if enrollment is less than the course minimum. A full refund will be issued less the cost of any opened course books.

There is a 10% fee on all cancellations. There is no refund for registrations cancelled within 7 days of class start date.

To receive a refund on UNOPENED course books they must be returned within 7 business days from cancellation.

If cancelled before Heartcode Complete license is issued, there will be a 10% cancellation fee. If Heartcode Complete license has been issued no refund will be given.

All cancellation requests must be in writing from the student enrolled in the course and submitted to registration@sremsc.org with a subject title of "STUDENT CANCELLATION".
