The Southern Region Emergency Medical Technician Instructor Course is offered in a modular fashion with the Methods of Instruction (MOI) portion during week one, and the Alaska Specific, Basic Instructor, and Advanced Instructor Orientations during week two. Attendance of both weeks is required to become a Department-approved EMT instructor.

To become an Alaska Certified EMT 1 Instructor you must complete the following courses:

  • Methods of Instruction (EMS or waiver for fire, police or other DOT compliant MOI courses)
  • Alaska Specific Instructor Orientation
  • Basic Instructor Orientation

To become an Alaska Certified EMT 3 Instructor you must complete the following courses:

  • Methods of Instruction (EMS or waiver for fire, police or other DOT compliant MOI courses)
  • Alaska Specific Instructor Orientation
  • Advanced Instructor Orientation

Week 2 Entry Requirements:

  • Week 1 of MOI must be completed or waiver from state
  • Certification as:
    • Alaska EMT or Paramedic
    • or
    • National Registry EMT or Paramedic
    • or
    • One of the following: RN, MD, DO, PA
  • Cover letter verifying 3 years EMS experience
  • CPR Instructor proof or waiver

 

Additional Information:

There is a 10% fee charged on all class cancellations.

There is no refund for cancellations less than 7 days prior to class start date.

If Southern Region (SREMSC) cancels the class a full refund will be issued (less any applicable course materials).

There are no fees incurred if the class is rescheduled for another date.

Terms and Conditions:

Payment in full is required at the time of initial registration to reserve a place in the class.

Southern Region EMS Council reserves the right to cancel a class if enrollment is less than the course minimum. A full refund will be issued less the cost of any opened course books.

There is a 10% fee on all cancellations. There is no refund for registrations cancelled within 7 days of class start date.

To receive a refund on UNOPENED course books they must be returned within 7 business days from cancellation.

If cancelled before Heartcode Complete license is issued, there will be a 10% cancellation fee. If Heartcode Complete license has been issued no refund will be given.

All cancellation requests must be in writing from the student enrolled in the course and submitted to registration@sremsc.org with a subject title of "STUDENT CANCELLATION".
