The goal of the PALS Instructor Course is to reinforce the important concepts of a systematic approach to pediatric assessment, basic life support, PALS treatment algorithms, effective resuscitation and Team dynamics by training Instructors in delivering and teaching core PALS guidelines and encouraging critical thinking and decision-making strategies. Instructors will learn how to instruct students through Video and Scenario based course delivery and create an atmosphere for active participation in case-based scenarios.

PALS Instructor Course is an eight (8) hour course that covers planning and preparation for courses, instructing courses, conducting written exams and skills testing and keeping your ACLS Instructor status current. It includes general information about instructing AHA courses, followed by course-specific information.
With this course you will receive an instructor tool kit with contains:
- Instructor Manual
- Provider Manual
- 2 DVD’s which include PALS Course, Update Course & Heartcode PALS
- PALS Emergency Crash Cart Cards
- Wall poster
Prior to taking this course the following must be met:
- You must have a current AHA PALS Provider card.
- You must be aligned with an AHA PALS Training Center that is accepting new PALS Instructors.
- Complete the on-line AHA PALS Instructor Essentials Course. https://shopcpr.heart.org/catalogsearch/result/?q=pals+instructor+essentials
- Download and review the PALS Instructor workbook which is included in this Essentials Course.
- Email a copy of your current PALS Provider card and your PALS Instructor Essentials Certificate of Completion to registration@sremsc.org
Upon successful completion of the instructor course the following must be met:
- You must be monitored in your teaching by a Training Center Faculty Member. Monitoring must be completed within 6 months from the original date of the instructor class. If not completed within a six- month time frame you must start the entire process over.
- The Training Faculty Member must submit your completed monitoring packet to registration@sremsc.org
- Log on to the American Heart Instructor network and register as a new PALS Instructor. https://ahainstructornetwork.americanheart.org/AHAECC/ecc.jsp?pid=ahaecc.signin&_requestid=1110896
Once all steps listed above have been completed you will be issued a PALS Instructor Card, valid for two years.
Payment Information
Payment in full is required at the time of initial registration to reserve a place in the class.
Cancellation and Refund Information
Cancellations must be requested by the student and submitted in writing.
If you are more than 10 minutes late without notification, you will need to reschedule.
There is a 10% fee charged on all class cancellations.
There is no refund for cancellations less than 10 days prior to the class start date.
There is no refund for opened course materials. There is a 10% restocking fee on returned books. Any unopened materials must be returned within 7 business days of cancellation to be eligible for a refund.
If Southern Region cancels the class a full refund will be issued (less any applicable course materials).
There are no fees incurred if the class is rescheduled for another date.
